Ravi Shankar Prasad and Prakash Javadekar stepped down from their respective ministries a few hours ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s cabinet reshuffle.
Ravi Shankar Prasad was Minister for Law and Electronics and IT and had lately been locked in a feud with Twitter over the new IT rules. Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar’s resignation is also a big surprise.
The president is said to have accepted the resignation of 12 Union ministers, including Ravi Shankar Prasad and Prakash Javadekar.
Health Minister Harsh Vardhan, Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal “Nishank” and Chemicals and Fertilisers Minister D V Sadananda Gowda were among several Union ministers who resigned on earlier on Wednesday.
