Shaktikanta Das reappointed RBI chief for three-year term

The government has reappointed Das as the governor of the central bank for a period of three years beyond December 10, 2021

The central bank said that, in view of the satisfactory compliance demonstrated by Diners Club International Ltd, on Storage of Payment System Data, the restrictions imposed vide order dated April 23, 2021, on on-boarding of fresh domestic customers have been lifted with immediate effect.

The government has extended the tenure of Reserve Bank of India Governor Shaktikanta Das for another three years, till December 2024.

On December 11, 2018, Das was named the RBI’s 25th governor, initially for a three-year term.

The government has reappointed Das as the governor of the central bank for a period of three years beyond December 10, 2021, according to an official order dated October 28.

The Cabinet Appointments Committee, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, made the decision.

Das will lead the RBI for the next three years, until December 2024.
