Shark Tank India’s new shark, Radhika Gupta, will be joining the show in it’s third season. Radhika Gupta is the Managing Director and CEO of Edelweiss Mutual Fund and is one of the youngest CEOs in India. In the third season of Shark Tank, Radhika Gupta will be investing her own money in start-ups.
In an exclusive interview with Money9 Editor Anshuman Tiwari, Radhika Gupta revealed the formula she uses to invest in start-ups. She believes that the idea of a start-up is not very important to her, but she considers the person running the start-up or the entrepreneur more important. Before joining any start-up, she would like to see its unit economics and also find out how capable the start-up team is in executing the idea. She said that she would like to see if the entrepreneur has a product that solves a problem and people want to buy it or not. She said that she would like to associate with such a business that is close to her heart and in which she can add some value.
Radhika Gupta manages funds worth around Rs 1.2 lakh crore and manages nearly 60 mutual fund schemes at Edelweiss Mutual Fund. She said that awareness about mutual funds has definitely increased among people in India, but investment has not increased accordingly.
