SIP inflows have hit all time high of ₹17,073 crore in November 2023 on back of retail investors’ newly found love for equity investment in India. Small investors invested bulk of money in equity mutual funds as compared to other fund categories in the said month. Net inflows in equity funds was ₹15,536 crore in the month under considertion. According to the Association of Mutual Funds in India (Amfi), as of November 30, 2023, equity funds’ net AUM reached ₹20.33 lakh crore up 30 per cent year-on-year (YoY) from ₹15.58 lakh crore in November 2022.
Among different categories of equity funds, small investors put in maximum money in small cap funds, followed by mid and thematic funds. Small cap funds saw net inflows of ₹3,699 crore in November 2023. While mid cap funds saw net inflows of ₹2,665 crore and thematic funds saw ₹1,964 crore worth of net inflows.
Overall SIP inflows have gradually increased over a considerable time period. On YoY basis, SIP inflows has increased 28 per cent in November 2023 from ₹13,306 crore in November 2022. As compared to pre-Covid period, inflows have more than doubled.
As a result, total AUM of 42 player mutual fund industry in India has ballooned to ₹49.04 lakh crore as of November 31, 2023.
