The super app from Tatas’ stable is eagerly awaited. Many are curious to know its features and what all services would be available on the app. While the commercial launch is still some time away, reports appeared in the media say that ‘TataNeu’ will be tested on a pilot basis among the group’s seven-lakh strong workforce.
According to a report in The Times of India, the senior leadership had a sneak preview of the app, ‘TataNeu’. The news report said some group apps like Bigbasket, 1MG, Taj, Croma and AirAsia have signed up for the super app. Other Tata brands are expected to follow suit.
‘TataNeu’ is expected to have separate business verticals such as grocery, pharmaceuticals, education, finance, and beauty, which will each be headed by sector specialists.
Tata’s super app will reportedly offer its customers a loyalty programme through which they will be able to earn points redeemable for other purchases made on the app.
A super app is a single digital platform that offers several services.
Even as the government is planning tougher e-commerce rules, the competition in the space is intensifying. Besides the Tatas, Adani group is also planning to launch a super app. Reliance Industries is consolidating various digital services under its ‘Jio’ brand. Paytm is already in the fray.
PhonePe is another such instance that has tried to bring in various other services such as cab bookings, grocery shopping, fitness and apparel shopping, booking train and flight tickets, etc from within the app.
According to a report by BofA Securities, Indian has the potential of simultaneously having three or four super apps.
