In view of the ongoing farmer agitation in Punjab, Eastern Railways has announced regulation of several trains that are originating from Kolkata or are bound for Kolkata. The regulation has been necessitated due to the ongoing farmer agitation in the Firozpur division of the Northern Railway.
On August 21, Northern Railway announced that as many as 19 trains that were supposed to commence journey after 4 pm had to be cancelled due to demonstrations in Punjab by farmers seeking clearance of their dues of more than Rs 200 crore and hike in state assured price of sugarcane. The trains originating and bound for Kolkata were disrupted for the same agitation.
In a statement, the spokesperson of Eastern Railways has said that the movement of seven trains will be regulated.
Howrah-Jammu Tawi (02331) has been diverted via Phillaur-Nakodar. This journey commenced on August 21, 2021.
Jammu Tawi-Howrah special has been diverted via Phillaur-Nakodar. This journey commenced on August 22, 2021.
Howrah-Amritsar special (03005) has been diverted via Phillaur-Nakodar. This journey commenced on August 21, 2021.
The following trains have been short terminated. Or they would short originate.
02357 Kolkata-Amritsar special at Ludhiana Junction. This journey commenced on August 21, 2021.
02358 Amritsar-Kolkata special will originate from Ludhiana Junction instead of Amritsar. This journey would begin on August 23, 2021.
03151 Kolkata-Jammu Tawi special will be short terminated at Saharanpur. This journey began on August 21, 2021.
03152 Jammu Tawi-Kolkata special will short originate from Saharanpur. This journey would commence on August 23, 2021.
