If you were looking to apply for a verified Twitter handle, then your wait is set to continue as Twitter has temporarily halted its verification programme after rolling out the verification application to users on May 20.
The new verification application was rolled out to users last week. Unfortunately, Twitter appears to be overburdened with requests and will only resume when its backlog is cleared. The Verification Request feature has not even been rolled out to all users. Twitter has said it will gradually roll out the application form.
“We’re rolling in verification requests. So we gotta hit pause on accepting any more for now while we review the ones that have been submitted. We’ll reopen requests soon! (We pinky swear),” it said in a tweet.
The date for the reopening of requests has not been revealed by Twitter, which means users will have to wait a little longer to get the coveted blue tick beside their name on their profile.
Twitter had brought back the verification programme after five years. It had stopped verifying users in 2017 after it received severe backlash for giving a blue tick to a white supremacist.
However, below mentioned are the categories with an authentic, active and notable account would be eligible to apply to the blue tick once it reopens:
– Government
– News organizations and journalists
– Companies, brands and organization
– Entertainment Sports and games
– Activists, organizers and other influencers
So while filling up the verification form, the user will have to confirm his identity and provide various links to verify his identity and details related to his work.
1. Open the Twitter app and tap on “Settings and Privacy” from the hamburger menu on the left. From here, tap on “Account” to access your account settings.
2. Now you’ll see a button that says “Request Verification”. To access the settings page for verification, tap on it. Those who don’t see it will have to wait a little longer since Twitter is still in the process of setting it up. Choose the appropriate category for your account from the page that appears.
3. The next step is to choose a method of verifying your identity. You will now have to upload a government-issued ID, add an email address, or add a website that references your Twitter account directly.
4. You ought to now select a way to confirm your id. You might want to add a government-issued ID, add an official enterprise e-mail handle, or an official website that instantly references your Twitter account. Pick the verification methodology that most accurately fits you, after which submit your software.
Once you have submitted the application, you will see a confirmation screen if everything would be correct.
