In his Mann ki Baat radio broadcast on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the vibrant start-up culture in India is a positive sign that depicts the country’s bright future. He affirmed that today even youngsters residing in smaller cities are embracing the start-up ecosystem. He also said that the space sector is gaining the sight of young India and in the coming days, a large number of satellites will be the ones developed by youngsters from universities, labs, and other sectors.
He talked about several themes in today’s Mann ki Baat edition, including the need to push sporting culture in the country, especially the potential it has showed after its performance in the Tokyo Olympics. He also paid tributes to hockey legend Dhyan Chand, saying he conquered the world of hockey for the country. On August 29, National Sports Day is celebrated to mark Dhyan Chand’s birthday. Modi said that now Indian parents are happily encouraging their children to take up sports, noting India’s achievement in men’s hockey after over four decades. There has been a major transformation in the mindset of the younger generation. They are now keen on new destinations and new goals by taking new paths and having new aspirations. He also called for having sports competitions at the village level and said from here the momentum gained must be pushed forward.
“Let us all countrymen strive to further this momentum as much as we can, contributing whatever we can. Let us transform the mantra of ‘Sabka Prayas’ (everyone’s effort) into reality,” Modi added.
On India’s rich spiritual traditions and philosophy, the prime minister said that people hold the responsibility to carry forward the country’s great traditions. He also urged people to continue to maintain Covid-19 precautions. “More than 62 crore vaccine doses have been administered in the country, but still we have to be careful and vigilant,” he said.
