State-run oil marketing company Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) has unveiled an LPG cylinder named XtraTej that offers more calorific value of heat. It promises to reduce kitchen expenses and according to IOC officials, it would help cut down about 7% of fuel expenditure, which translates to about 1 cylinder for every 12 cylinders one consumes.
In other words, if a family can cook 30 days with a normal LPG cylinder, it can cook for 33 days Tez, with the same level of consumption.
It translates into a saving of around Rs 850 a year.
Premium quality
The new LPG will be premium in quality and not pricing.
With this LPG that delivers more heat per unit gas, cooking time will be reduced, say officials.
It will have a higher combustion capacity than normal LPG cylinders.
The state-run oil marketing company has also twitted three customer-friendly initiatives.
Combo cylinder
When you got deliveries of your normal 14.5 kg LPG cylinder, you can also buy a 5 kg small cylinder that one can use as a back up.
One can use it as a cushion if there is any delay in delivery of cylinders. For this one has to contact the LPG distributor.
Chhotu cylinder
Households that do not have much consumption of LPG can buy the 5 kg small cylinders. It can be procured from the LPG distributor or even the petrol pumps.
It will soon be available throughout the country.
Missed call
Amid the pandemic IOC has also started booking LPG cylinders through missed calls from the mobile number registered with the LPG dealer.
The step will also help those customers who are not comfortable using IVRS facility.
The number for the missed call booking is 8454955555. One missed call to this number and a cylinder will be booked against your consumer number.
