Bitcoin, the world’s largest cryptocurrency, on Monday advanced 6.62% trading at $46,028.84. Ethereum also rose by 7.20% and was trading at $3,128.46. All the major cryptocurrencies were trading in green, with Uniswap showing the highest gain of 10.54%, trading at $28.55.

Star footballer Lionel Messi possible signing with France’s Paris Saint German (PSG) after his decision to quit Barcelona, has pushed the fans of the French club to buy cryptocurrencies.
Even though there is no official confirmation yet, The PSG fan token, also called PSG had risen by over 100% after reports of signing the six time Ballon d’Or winner made the headlines.
During his farewell press conference yesterday, the Argentine footballer said that PSG could be a possibility, but at the moment there was no confirmation yet. He also added that he received a lot of calls after his Barcelona statement.
According to Chiliz exchange, the PSG fan token jumped from $21.95 to $44.97 over the past four days, hitting a three month high. And it’s continuing to rise. The token was priced over $50 at around 1:00 PM Indian Standard Time (IST) yesterday on August 9.
The rise in PSG’s fan token is an interesting case as to how cryptocurrencies and blockchain can play a role in sports. Fan tokens like Bitcoin or Ethereum, in the sense that they also trade on exchanges, but their purpose is to allow clubs to interact with fans and involve them in integral decisions.
Billion dollar clubs like Manchester United, AC Milan and Messi’s current club Barcelona and more have joined the crypto bandwagon by launching their tokens. Fans could use these to vote on important decisions, buy collectibles and more.
