IT major Infosys, the vendor that created the Income-tax portal has assured that the company is working expeditiously with the I-T department to streamline the end-user experience. The company issued a statement on September 23, acknowledging the issues faced by the users. It said that Infosys has directly communicated with more than 1,200 taxpayers to get a better understanding of the challenges faced by them. The company has been engaging with the Chartered Accountant community to resolve the portal issues. This will help the company to check if the comprehensive set of user scenarios are supported before it is deployed.
“Over 30 million taxpayers had logged into the portal and have completed various transactions,” the company said. The company stated in its blog post that more than 1.5 million unique taxpayers have logged into the portal every day, on average in the month of September. Over 15 million returns have been filed to date, it added. Those who have filed returns through Aadhaar one-time password (OTP) authentication-based e-verification constitute 85% of taxpayers. Over 250,000 returns filing are facilitated on the portal on a daily basis. ITR 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 7 are available. forms such as 15G, 15H, EQ1, 10A, 10E, 10IE, DTVSV, 15CA, 15CB, 35 as well as TDS Returns are being filed in large numbers. More than 1.15 million statutory forms and over 800,000 TDS returns have already been filed.
The portal also supports services like e-proceedings, response to notices and demands, e-PAN services, DSC registrations, and functionality for the legal heir etc. apart from that, 1.66 million e-PANs have been issued. 430,000 DSC registrations and over 344,000 e-proceeding responses to notices have also been completed.
The Infosys blog post added, “Infosys remains committed to making rapid progress and has currently dedicated more than 750 resources to this project to complete significant portions of work, in collaboration with officials from the I-T Department.”
The e-portal has been criticised since its launch, due to technological glitches.
