Income tax e-filing portal has received more than 2 crore ITRs for AY 2021-22.

The Income Tax Department tweeted on Friday to remind taxpayers to file their income tax return (ITR) on the e-filling portal. The CBDT had extended the last date of filing income tax returns to December 31, 2021, from the already extended date of September 30. It also informed that the income tax e-filing portal has received more than 2 crore ITRs for AY 2021-22.

In September, while extending the deadline for ITR filing, CBDT had said, “On consideration of difficulties reported by the taxpayers and other stakeholders in filing of Income Tax Returns and various reports of audit for the Assessment Year 2021-22 under the Income-tax Act, 1961(the “Act”), Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has decided to further extend the due dates for filing of Income Tax Returns and various reports of audit for the Assessment Year 2021-22.”
