This might provide relief to lakhs of pensioners across the country. The central government has announced the date of submission of Digital Life Certificate (DLC) by different categories of pensioners. Submission of DLC will soon begin at Jeevan Pramaan Centres (JPCs) at head post offices across the country through online mode. DLC is the main document which one has to submit to keep getting pension. The Department of Posts under the ministry of communications has declared the deadline for various pensioners to submit DLCs.
DLC is a bio-metric enabled digital service for pensioners. Pensioners of central or state government, EPFO or any other government organization whose pension disbursing agency is live for DLC can take the benefit of this facility.
Pensioners aged 80 years and above will be allowed to submit life certificates from October 1 to November 30, 2021. The remaining pensioners can submit their DLC from November 1 to November 30, 2021. So if you belong to the first category then be ready and check all your documents.
The postal department has also requested that Jeevan Pramaan Centres, where DLC have to be submitted should be established at all head post offices.
Last year, in view of the covid pandemic, it was decided to extend the timeline for submission of Life Certificate. In 2020, all central government pensioners were allowed to submit life certificate from November 1 till December 31, 2020.
However, the pensioners in the age group of 80 years and above were asked to submit life certificate from October 1, 2020 onward, till December 31, 2020.
To submit a DLC, a few important documents are needed.
The documents are valid Aadhaar card and a valid mobile number. The Aadhaar number should have been registered with the pension disbursing agency, i.e. bank or post office.
The type of pension, sanctioning authority, disbursing agency, PPO number, and bank or post office account number should all be kept handy.
Every year for uninterrupted pension payment the pensioners need to submit the DLC to the bank or post office either in person or by providing a life certificate in the approved format.
The DLC is kept online and can be accessed by the pensioner and the pension disbursement agency. Pensioners must have Internet access, a bio-metric device and the Jeevan Praman client application software, which can be downloaded from the website, https://jeevanpramaan.gov.in to generate DLC.
Pensioners can go to any nearby digital service centre, such as a Citizen Service Centre (CSC), a Government Office/Bank authorised for generating DLCs, and get themselves enrolled online through their services. The Pramaan ID is provided to the pensioner by SMS after the certificate has been created.
The DLC, also known as the Jeevan Pramaan, will also be sent to bank or post office digitally.
Pensioners too can submit their DLC physically at their pension disbursing bank or post office branch.
