Investor Ashish Kacholia entered this smallcap stock in March quarter; bought over 4 lakh shares

Prominent equity investor Ashish Kacholia, whose portfolio value more than tripled since March last year, has entered Garware Polyester in the March quarter with a 2.03% stake, according to the latest shareholding data.

Data available with BSE showed that Kahcolia held 4.72 lakh shares in the company as on March 31. His name was not among key shareholders of the company in the previous quarters.

Shares of Garware Polyester traded 0.18% higher at Rs 716 at around 10.50 am (IST). On the other hand, the benchmark BSE Sensex was down 0.37% at 47,530 at around the same time.

The country’s biggest institutional investor Life Insurance Corporation of India continues to hold a 3.67% stake in the exporter of polyester films.

Ashish Kacholia is known for picking quality midcaps and smallcaps in the domestic equity market. His equity portfolio grew 264% to Rs 1,369.80 crore in April 2021 from Rs 376.34 crore in March 2020.

Kacholia holds more than 24 stocks in his portfolio. Of late, he cut his stake in companies like Vaibhav Global, Poly Medicure, Birlasoft, Acrysil, Paushak in the March quarter. On the other hand, he raised his stake in players including HLE Glasscoat, IOL Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals, Caplin Point Laboratories and Phillips Carbon Black. He kept his stake constant in companies including Apollo Tricoat Tubes, Shaily Engineering, DFM Foods, Apollo Pipes, Mold-Tek Packaging and Safari Industries among others.
