Money9 Edit | Vaccination drive should not face any further roadblocks

The vaccination strategy has until now come up short and government should ensure that every stakeholder is on board for a successful implementation

The government’s announcement that over 200 crore doses of vaccine will be available by year-end has given some clarity on a subject which has caused great consternation among citizens.

There is a big difference between making projections and executing them seamlessly on the ground, evidenced profoundly by the present vaccination drive.

The vaccination strategy has until now come up short and government should ensure that every stakeholder is on board for a successful implementation.

The new government directive of increasing the time gap between the two doses has invited more ridicule and cynicism towards the vaccination drive. While getting a vaccination slot in the CoWin platform continues to remain a challenge, it is imperative to have a structure in place.

Citizens need to be given the confidence that they will get their vaccine shots without facing any difficulties. There have been many instances of people getting shots but being turned away due to lack of vaccines.

Policy tweaks should not add to more confusion to a process which has got off to a stuttering start. Grappling with the second wave, the government has its task cut out now.

Inoculation is the only solution to tackle this Covid-induced morass and we cannot afford more slip-ups.
