Remembering the 1971 Liberation War

At the end of the Liberation war in 1971, chief of Pakistani forces General AA Khan Niazi, along with 93,000 troops, surrendered unconditionally before the Indian forces.

On December 3, 1971, the Indian government declared war against Pakistan in order to save Bengali Hindus and Muslims.

The 13 day war paved the way for the liberation of East Bengal from Pakistan, now known as Bangladesh.
