Forgot your UAN? Here’s how to find it

There are three ways to find out Universal Account Number to track your provident fund details

EPF is applicable in organisations with 20 or more workers. It pertains to the organised sector of the economy

There is no government scheme that offers a return that matches the Employees Provident Fund (EPF), which offers 8.5%. It is a government-backed retirement savings scheme that targets workers from the organized sector.

The EPF is managed by the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO). EPFO allots a Universal Account Number (UAN) for every EPF subscriber/member. You can avail all EPFO services using your UAN.

Three ways

If you forget your UAN, it can be recovered quickly.

There are three ways through which you can proceed – giving a missed call, sending an SMS or trying online.

Missed call

One of the easiest ways to know your UAN is through a missed call from your mobile number registered on the EPFO portal. You just have to give a missed call to 011-22901406.

Within a few seconds you will receive a message from EPFO, where the name of the member, Aadhaar number, UAN, account balance will be mentioned. Make sure that your UAN is connected with your bank account number, Aadhaar, and PAN.

Through SMS

You can also know your UAN through SMS. But before that, you should be sure that your mobile number is registered on the UAN portal. You just have to type EPFOHO UAN ENG and send it to 7738299899 from your registered mobile number.

Within a few seconds other details including UAN you will receive through a message from EPFO.

Remember ‘ENG’ is the first three characters of the preferred language. This facility is available in 10 languages English (default), Hindi, Marathi, Kannada, Punjabi, Gujarati, Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, and Bengali.

Online search

If you want to know your UAN then visit EPF India

Then click on Member UAN/Online Service (OCS/OTCP) on the left side of the screen under the services section.

Now click on ‘Know your UAN’

Then enter your registered mobile number and captcha and click on ‘Request OTP’.

Submit the OTP received on the mobile number by entering the given space and entering the captcha once again.

After this, in the page that will open, the PF account holder will have to enter name, date of birth and Aadhaar or PAN or member ID / PF account number.

Then enter the captcha and click on ‘Show my UAN’.

The number will be displayed.
