Mother Dairy has reduced the price of its edible oil, which may provide some relief to the common man amidst rising inflation. The company has announced a price reduction of up to ₹10 per liter on its edible oil brand, Dhara. The company stated that packaging with the new prices will be available in the market from the next week.
In an official statement issued on Thursday, the spokesperson of Mother Dairy stated that a maximum retail price (MRP) reduction of up to ₹10 per liter is being implemented for all variants of Dhara edible oil. This step has been taken in view of the falling prices of edible oils at the international level and the improved availability of domestic crops such as mustard. Dhara brand edible oils with the new MRP will be available in the open market from the coming week.
Let’s have a look at the new prices:
After the price reduction, Dhara refined vegetable oil is now available at approximately ₹200 per liter. Similarly, Dhara mustard oil will be priced at ₹158 per liter. Dhara Kachi Ghani Sarson (mustard) oil will be priced at ₹160 per liter. Additionally, Dhara refined sunflower oil will be sold at ₹150 per liter, and coconut oil at ₹230 per liter.
Why did the company reduce the prices?
The spokesperson of the company mentioned that due to the continuous decline in the prices of edible oils at the international level and the better availability of domestic crops like mustard, a reduction of ₹10 per liter has been made in the MRP of all Dhara edible oil brands. After the price reduction, the company has updated the prices of edible oils, which will be effective from the next week in the market. It is worth mentioning that Mother Dairy is a major supplier of milk products in Delhi-NCR and also sells edible oils under the Dhara brand.
Government’s directive:
As part of the efforts to control inflation, the central government recently directed edible oil organizations to reduce the maximum retail prices (MRP) of major edible oils in line with the decrease in global market prices, with an immediate effect of ₹8-12 per liter. Following this direction, Mother Dairy has reduced the prices of its oils. Other oil companies may also make decisions in this regard in the coming days.
