India’s Pulse Personal Finance Survey: How India spends, saves and earns?
Conducted in 10 different languages from August to November, the survey gathered information on income, expenses, savings, and investments from more than 35,000 families in over 1,170 villages or urban wards.
India has become the world’s fifth-largest economy, with the size of our economy crossing $3 trillion. You might already know these facts, but perhaps you might be unaware how much an average Indian family earns, where they spend, and most importantly, what they have in the name of savings and investments. For this ground-level information, Money9 had conducted the country’s largest personal finance survey in 2022. Now, once again, Money9 is presenting a larger and more comprehensive survey on the same matter.
The survey covered approximately 115 districts across 20 states in the latest survey. Conducted in 10 different languages from August to November, the survey gathered information on income, expenses, savings, and investments from more than 35,000 families in over 1,170 villages or urban wards. In the 2022 survey, more than 31,000 families were surveyed, making this year’s survey sample size about 10 per cent larger than the preceding year’s. The survey was entrusted to the esteemed agency RTI International, which has a history of conducting such surveys for major institutions like the World Bank and Facebook.
While surveys on topics like income, savings, expenses, and investments of the general public are usually conducted by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) or the National Sample Survey Office (NSSO), Money9’s survey on this theme is the latest one and provides the most accurate information on the economic security level of the country’s citizens.
The survey reveals the average size of families in India, the number of bread earners in a family, and the average income of families. It also tells how many people in the country have access to amenities like cars and air conditioners and how many are still struggling to afford basic necessities like ceiling fans and mobile phones. The survey will also reveal how many people save money and where they invest their money. Additionally, through the survey, it will be known what is essential for economic security of families in the country.
Money9 will broadcast the results of this survey on Saturday, December 23, 2023, on the Hindi channel TV9 Bharatvarsh, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. The survey will reveal how many Indians are planning to buy a car, insurance policies, or a smartphone for themselves in the next 6 months. Don’t forget to tune in on Saturday from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM on TV9 Bharatvarsh for all the information related to the survey.
