More than 2.24 crore taxpayers have received Rs. 2,13,823 crore in refunds: CBDT

The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has issued over Rs. 2,13,823 crore of tax refunds to more than 2.24 crore taxpayers in this financial year.

The refunds were issued between April 1, 2020 to March 22, 2021, the Income Tax Department said in a tweet. Of the total refunds, income tax refunds of Rs 79,483 crore have been issued in 2,21,92,812 cases.

For corporate tax refunds, Rs 1,34,340 crore have been issued in 2,22,188 cases.
