Its returns preparation software will help those with little knowledge of income tax. There is a question-answer system in the new website.
‘More user friendly’
‘In the first impression, the new website is more attractive and user friendly than older one. I think those with little knowledge of income tax will be benefited, but it will take time to give any concrete feedback on this portal.’ says Suman Nandi, chartered accountant.
Also taxpayers are now able to proactively update their profile to provide certain details of income including salary, house property, business/profession which will be used in pre-filling their ITR.
Functionalities for filing income tax forms, add tax professionals, submit responses to notices in faceless scrutiny or appeals are now available on the new portal.
Changes
There are big changes in tax payment system. In the old system, there was a different website for tax payment and the challan number have to maintain in returns. But in this new system taxpayers will be able to pay their taxes on this website itself and it will reflect in returns.
‘New tax payment system will be launched on June 18, 2021 after the advance tax installment date to avoid any taxpayer inconvenience,’ the tax department statement said.
