If you’re an iPhone user and haven’t updated your iPhone’s operating system, there might be some bad news coming your way. The cross-platform centralized messaging app may reportedly drop its support for Apple iPhones running on iOS 9, claimed WABetaInfo—a website closely tracking changes and updates on WhatsApp.
“WhatsApp Messenger beta 2.21.50 drops the support for iOS 9,” the website tweeted on March 6.

This development suggests the iOS 2.21.50.11 beta version of the instant messaging app will no longer be accessible on iOS 9. It will, hereon, run only on iOS 10 and above. However, WhatsApp has still not made this change visible on its FAQ page.
The Facebook-owned messaging app is also working on another feature—Archived Chat Cell—for customers. This feature, however, will be visible only for users who have chats saved in their archives.
“If you have a chat in the archive, the cell will be always pinned to the top,” WABetaInfo revealed.
WhatsApp is preparing an update that brings a new experience for your Archive: when you receive a message from archived chats, they won’t be unarchived anymore. This is optional.

In a separate development, WhatsApp reminded users, yet again, about the new privacy policy that is scheduled to be rolled from May 15 this year. A new in-app notification was sent to the users which requested acceptance of the app’s latest modification in the terms of service and privacy policy.
“The terms and privacy policy go into effect on May 15. Please accept these updates to continue using WhatsApp after this date,” the notification read. The messaging app clarified that the new policy will not hamper the privacy of personal conversations. It will only make it easier for businesses to chat using Facebook tools.
Personal chats remain end-to-end encrypted and cannot be accessed by anyone but the user themselves, WhatsApp had clarified.
