Apple iOS 14.5 update: Will it support 5G?

With iOS 14.5, Apple is adding support for dual 5G SIMs which was in its beta testing stage for last few months

Three months and eight beta tests later, Apple finally announced the much awaited iOS 14.5 update to be available for download by this weekend.

This update bring about a series of exciting changes and additional features for Apple users. Lets take a look at some of them:

Top-notch security and privacy

Pushing the bar for privacy and security of its customers a little further, Apple iOS 14.5 demands every application developer to seek your permission before it can track you across apps on your iOS device. This will have implication on all third-party apps on the App Store. The feature will be enable by default once the new iOS version is downloaded on the iPhone.

While privacy experts applauded the move, social networking platform Facebook criticised it stating it could negatively their revenue model.

Apple AirTag

AirTags – the new iPhone accessory that provides a private and secure way to easily locate items that matter most to you will be available on you iPhone/iPad once the device is upgraded to its latest version.

After setting up the AirTag on your device, it will be visible in the new items tab on Find My Device’’. One can easily locate the current or last known location of these tags on the map.

Apple’s AirTag tracker, which was made available for pre order from April 23, is listed at a price of Rs 3,190 for single piece and Rs 10,900 for four-pack.

Dual SIM 5G support

One of the biggest drawbacks of Apple phones since inception was the lack of support for dual SIM service. The company overcame this flaw last year when it launched iPhone 12 series which included 5G support. However, it did not allow two 5G SIMs to function in one device simultaneously.

With iOS 14.5, Apple is adding support for dual 5G SIMs which was in its beta testing stage for last few months.

Apple has truly upgraded its services with the latest 14.5 iOS version and given customers quite a lot in the name of technology, security, flexibility and privacy.
