New Jio Phone 2021 offer: RIL says India moves closer to a '2G-Mukt Bharat'

Jio said the same facilities will cost customers Rs 5,000 on other networks

Reliance Jio on February 26 announced the launch of its new offer which will give users unlimited voice calls and data for two years at Rs 1,999. Users won’t have to recharge the phone for two years.

The same offer is also available for a duration of one year at a price of Rs 1,499. Users won’t have to recharge the phone for a year.

Jio said the same facilities will cost customers Rs 5,000 on other networks.

This offer will be available from March 1 at Reliance Retail and Jio retailers.

The company said it expects the move to help subcsribers move out of the 2G network and help bolster the path towards 5G adoption.

“There are still 300 million subscribers in India who remain ‘trapped’ in the 2G era, unable to access basic features of the internet, at a time, when the world stands at the cusp of a 5G revolution,” said Akash Ambani, Director, Reliance Jio.
