Social networking giant WhatsApp recently launched two exclusives features for iOS users. With the app’s newest update, iPhone users will be able to see media previews in their original size as well as have more options to control the disappearing messages in a group chat.
Any image or video received on a WhatsApp chat will no longer appear in small boxes where you had to click on the media to view its original size. You can directly view the media in its original size from hereon.
Another striking feature is the power to manage disappearing texts in a group chat. Initially, the power resided with the group admin and only he could manage the setting of disappearing texts. However, now the app has gone an extra inch and given every member of the group the power to manage these settings.
But, again, only the group admin can enable other members to be able to manage settings of disappearing messages. One can do so by clicking on ‘Edit Group Info’ and allowing other participants the ability to manage these settings. Hence, ultimately the control still remains with the group admin.
The disappearing text feature for group chats was launched by the company last year. This feature, only when turned on, allows certain messages to temporarily be displayed in the chatbox. These messages disappear after 7 days.
The two new features first appeared in the beta version of the app but were soon made official by the company for iOS users. Android users, however, will have to wait longer to avail these features as there is no official confirmation on this front yet.
