According to RBI rules, you can exchange mutilated notes. In such a situation, you will get the payment according to the condition of the note. If you also have mutilated or damaged Rs 2,000 notes , then you will get money in return. i.e. you can easily exchange it

What are the terms and conditions?
As per RBI rules, mutilated notes are replaced according to their condition. To exchange a 2000 rupee note and get full money, it is mandatory for that note to be 88 square centimeters. Actually, the length of this note is – 16.6 cm, the width is  6.6 cm, and the area is 109.56. In such a situation, if the note is 88 square centimeters, then you will get the full money whereas if the note is 44 square centimeters, then you will get only half the money in return.

Where can I change the notes?
If you also have such notes and you want to change them, then know that banks do not charge customers for changing mutilated notes, but if your note is too mutilated, then banks refuse to accept it. In such a situation, if the condition of your notes is worse, then it is better to change it in the RBI office.

You can exchange Rs 2,000 notes
RBI has given time till September 30 to replace the Rs 2000 note with its withdrawal from circulation. During this period, you can either deposit the notes in the bank or exchange them.
