Nifty IT index was leading the sectoral pack with gains of 2.10%.
Nifty PSU Bank was the star of the day as it surged 3.98% followed by the Nifty Metal index rallied 3.89%.
In opening trades Sensex scaled to a new peak of 61,817 higher by 512 points or % 0.83%. Likewise, the Nifty was quoting at 18,454 adding 115 points.
ITC, rising around 3% was the top Sensex gainer followed by HDFC Bank, PowerGrid, ICICI Bank, IndusInd Bank and NTPC
The company has further increased its revenue growth guidance to 16.5%-17.5% from 14%-16% given earlier.
Sensex jumped 331 points or 0.55% to 61,068. Likewise, the Nifty 50 was quoting at 18,285 higher by 123 points or 0.68%.
Trading of Nifty 50 index futures on the Singapore stock exchange indicates that the Nifty could rise 78 points at the opening bell.
Shivangi Sarda of Motilal Oswal Financial Services is bullish on Tata Steel with a price target of Rs 1,422 per share.
The Nifty rose 169.80 points, or 0.94 percent, to 18,161.75, a record closing high.
ICICI Securities projected that the revenue of IEX may increase by 30.80% CAGR to Rs 712 crore by FY24.
