Nifty metal slipped the most, losing over 2%, followed by nifty financials. Financials continued to be major laggards as all indices lost close to 2%.
In the broader markets, the BSE MidCap index settled 0.12% higher while the BSE SmallCap index closed 0.26% lower
Sensex settled 166 points or 0.32% at 52,484, while Nifty ended at 15,722 up 42 points or 0.27%.
The nifty Metal index lost the most tanked 2.85%, followed by Nifty Realty index plunging 1.26%.
